Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy can take on many different forms with many different approaches. We offer a holistic, client-centred approach in a judgement-free space. Psychotherapy can be offered in person or virtually.
Psychoeducational Assessments
Psychoeducational assessments can be accessed when you find that you struggle within realms of academia, from elementary to post-secondary school levels. While we assess strengths and weaknesses, it is important to remember you cannot pass or fail; we simply want to know how you can be the most successful version of yourself.
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach developed with the intention to help clients process and reduce stress induced by traumatic situations.
Cognitive Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured approach to psychotherapy aimed to identify negative behaviour and thought patterns and replace them with a more positive approach. It involves substantial psychoeducation and numerous researched change strategies.
Psychovocational Assessment
Psychovocational assessments can be completed with individuals from all areas of life, from post-secondary students to clients wanting to make a potential career change. Psychovocational testing can also be completed as part of vocational rehabilitation based off of each client's unique needs.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Vocational rehabilitation is the process of preparing individuals to return to the workforce after being on leave. While returning to work is the main goal, we try not to rush our clients; after all, the timeline to return to work is unique to each individual. For some people it may be 3 months, 3 years or perhaps there would never be a return to work. Whatever the case, we work with you to achieve your goals and build a life that feels good to you.
Disability Assessments
Disability assessments involve a variety of tools to assess the individual and determine what disabilities may be present. Along with diagnostic conclusions, assessments will include recommendations as to how best accommodate the disability/disabilities. Such assessments are useful for motor vehicle assessments, educational environments, Disability Services of Ontario, Federal Disability Applications, Ontario Disability Support Services, Worker's Safety and Insurance Board, Ontario Works, etc.
Psychoneuroimmunology
Psychoneuroimmunology is the study of the relationship between the mind, nervous system and immune system. Our health, gut function, microbiome and immunity interact in intimate and reciprocal fashion with the brain and related function. With a psychoneuroimmunological lens we are able to identify problematic areas associated with the interaction of these realms. Issues such as AD/HD, Autism, Anxiety, cognitive dysfunction, emotional issues, etc. may be of relevance.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
For people involved in car accidents, we offer both assessment and psychotherapy services. During an assessment one's overall psychological functioning is assessed within the context of the nature and history of your accident and/or injury and the extent to which they interfere with your day to day activities. Rehabilitation therapy provides assistance with the improvement and reduction of impact of injury on your daily activities.
Forensic Assessments and Therapy
Forensic assessments, like our other assessments use a variety of tools to assess the individual. With forensic assessments there is emphasis on the person and their personality to identify psychological issues that may lead to criminal or other problematic behaviour. These assessments are often done by order of the court, or probation services, or to aid in a legal investigation.
Therapies can also be offered to help individuals make constructive changes to move away from their criminal habits and cycles and may help individuals rehabilitate and function more successfully in the community.
Marital/Couples Therapy
During marital/couple therapy, the professional works with both individuals in the relationship to address, and offer insight and change procedures designed to strengthen family function and bonds.
Family Therapy
Family therapy involves the entire family in the therapy process. In group and subgroup arrangements, Families address their issues and work together towards better relationships, communication and functioning.
Spiritual / Personal Growth Therapy
Energy/spiritual psychology focuses on how energy impacts the individual. Combining Eastern approaches with western psychology, we can help with anxiety, chronic pain, depression and traumas etc. As per the words of David Feinstein, "energy psychology is acupuncture without the needles."
Multicultural Services
We offer assessment services in both french and english. We also have strong ties to Indigenous communities throughout Ontario and routinely travel to those areas to provide services that otherwise would not be accessible to these communities.
